Lines 1-8

Trees are for birds.
Trees are for children.
Trees are to make tree houses in.
Trees are to swing swings on.
Trees are for the wind to blow through.
Trees are to hide behind in โ€˜Hide and Seek.โ€™
Trees are to have tea parties under.
Trees are for kites to get caught in.

According to the poet, trees are for birds as they make houses in them. Trees are for children who make swings on them and play. Winds blow through trees. We play โ€œHide and Seekโ€ game behind the trees. We have tea parties under the trees. Often our kites get caught in the trees.

Lines 9-16

Trees are to make cool shade in summer.
Trees are to make no shade in winter.
Trees are for apples to grow on, and pears;
Trees are to chop down and call, โ€œTIMBER-R-R!โ€
Trees make mothers say,
โ€œWhat a lovely picture to paint!โ€
Trees make fathers say,
โ€œWhat a lot of leaves to rake this fall !โ€

Trees give us cool shade in summer. In winter they loose their leaves. Apples and pears grow on trees. We cut them down for timber (wood which we use in our houses). Our mothers paint trees on the sheets and call them lovely pictures. Our fathers often get irritated by seeing a lot of leaves fallen on the ground.

Hence trees are very helpful for all of us and we should love, respect and protect them.
