Gopal and the Hilsa-Fish Class 7 Short Summary & Explanation in English

Introduction

Gopal challenged the king that he could do the impossible. Read to find out if he succeeded.

Genius Gopal

Gopal, a wise man in a kingdom, accepted a challenge from the king. He had bought a huge Hilsa fish and bring it to the palace without anyone talking about it. It was the season of Hilsa fish, and people always talked of this fish. The king got annoyed and challenged Gopal to make people stop talking about the fish. The king thought it to be impossible, but Gopal accepted the challenge.

Clever Idea

Gopal shaved his beard in half and dressed in rags. He bought a Hilsa and started to walk toward the palace. Nobody talked of Hilsa as everyone was more interested in his looks. His wife thought that Gopal had gone mad. Gopal reached the palace and told the king that he had forgotten something.

The Jolly King

He reminded the king of his challenge and told him that not a single soul had talked about the fish. The king busted into laughter and accepted that Gopal had done the impossible once again.
