‘To My Mother’ is Rossetti’s first poem, written when she was 11 years old. In the poem, Christina expresses her love for her mother while wishing her a healthy and happy life on her birthday.

Theme
Mothers are always loving and caring. The theme revolves around love, especially motherly love, and the bond shared between a mother and her daughter.
Stanza I
To-day's your natal day Sweet flowers I bring; Mother, accept, I pray, My offering.
Christina Rosetti presents her mother with flowers and a sweet poem on her special day. It is her mother’s birthday and the little girl has tried her best to make it special by bringing along a sweet offering. She hopes her mother likes her little gesture.
Stanza II
And may you happy live, And long us bless; Receiving as you give Great happiness.
She prays that her kind mother lives a happy and healthy life and stays with them forever. Mothers are very generous and always looking after others, here Christina prays that her mother receive just as much happiness as she radiates towards others.
