A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of Water Pollution.
Wikipedia defines the term ‘Water Pollution’ as follows: “Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities, so that it negatively affects its uses. Water bodies include lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, reservoirs and groundwater. Water pollution results when contaminants are introduced into these water bodies.”
There are several types of water pollution that have been identified. Namely, they are groundwater pollution, surface water pollution, suspended matter, oil spillages, microbiological pollution, chemical water pollution, thermal pollution, and oxygen-depletion pollution.
Water pollution results in making the water unfit for consumption and adversely ends up in affecting all forms of living things. It also affects the biodiversity of space in this regard, resulting in dire consequences such as irreversible repair to the ecosystem and change in the landscape. It would also result in the spread of life-threatening diseases.
