A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘Save Girl Child’.
‘Save Girl Child’ is a move adopted by the Government of India after the alarming rates of female foeticide and female infanticide and how girls were deprived of their very fundamental rights. In a patriarchal setup such as India, such an initiative was important to protect the welfare of girl children right from birth.
The Government of India launched several schemes under this for the same. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl child) is the most recent initiative started by the government to actively encourage people to save girl children.
Determination of the sex of the child in a mother’s womb through ultrasound methods has also been banned. Forcing them into labour or other depraved acts instead of letting them study is also a serious crime punishable under the law.
Girls deserve to live as well. Save the girl child!
