Good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic of the importance of dress code.
According to Britannica, the ‘dress code’ is defined to be “a set of rules about what clothing may and may not be worn at a school, office, restaurant, etc.” Essentially, dress code is important in any organisation, be it school or workplace.
Leaving aside parties and dress codes used for such impersonal events, at any workplace, the dress code is important because employees are expected to display a certain level of professionalism and credibility by means of attire. Casual wear will undoubtedly not be effective in creating a conducive work environment.
In schools again, the dress code ought to be maintained to instill discipline and uniformity among students. It also establishes equality without any disparity in every child.
More importantly, dress codes or school uniforms here are an identity marker for they help during emergency situations.
