         I am writing this application to inform you that my maternal uncle who was terminally-ill from the past two months has expired this morning. The whole family is in a state of grief and sorrow. We shall leave today to take part in the funeral and last rites of the deceased. Your goodself is requested to take notice of my absence for one week.
