The Bhopal gas tragedy is also known as the Bhopal disaster. It took place on the year 2nd December,1984. It killed an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people and 2000 animals. The root cause for this tragic incident was that about 45 tons of the dangerous gas methyl isocyanate escaped from an insecticide plant that was owned by the Indian subsidiary of the American firm Union Carbide Corporation.
