A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of Organ Donation.
Wikipedia defines the term ‘Organ Donation’ to be “the process when a person allows an organ of their own to be removed and transplanted to another person, legally, either by consent while the donor is alive or dead with the assent of the next of kin.”
From the given meaning, it can be gathered that organ donation is a safe and viable option taken for the sake of saving the lives of not just close ones but is also done out of noble intentions to save others in desperate need of vital organs to survive. Common organs donated include kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, eyes, pancreas and intestines.
However, nowadays, organ trafficking is becoming more and more prevalent. Here, the donation of organs is not consensual but is rather acquired forcefully, often without the knowledge of the donor.
