I hope this letter finds you in the best of spirits. I am also doing well on this side. I am writing this letter to tell you about the ancient spice trade of India.
India has always been a culturally rich country, it has been a center of trade and knowledge as well. Once upon a time, India played a key role in the spice trade of the ancient world. The spice trade consisted of a network of routes through which spices were transported to the European world. The spices that are commonplace today were exported to different countries. They were considered as valuable as silver or gold. To add to that, was the knowledge of the medicinal value of the herbs and spices that was shared along with the spices themselves. Some spices that were exported are- Black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and many more.
I’m still learning about this vast topic. I’ll write more in the next letter.
