Dear Eric,
I hope you and your family are in good health and happy. I am having a speech competition next week at school. The topic of the competition is “Drug Addiction.” I will be sharing some points with you in this letter. Drug addiction is a serious threat to a healthy society. People who start taking drugs in small amounts for immediate pleasure and energy reach a point where they can’t live without them. This makes them use them often, which can lead to very serious health conditions. A drug addict behaves abnormally. It affects his or her mental health as well. Drug addiction can even take a person to the coma stage. Instant outbursts, anxiety, depression, changes in personality, etc. are the common symptoms shown by a drug addict. If we know anyone showing these symptoms, they must be immediately provided medical help. The government should establish drug addiction treatment centres to treat drug addicts and assist them in overcoming their addiction. Is there anything else I can say in my speech?
