Future Continuous Tense

Introduction

In the previous unit, we have discussed the Future Indefinite Tense in detail. We assume that you have learned the forms of verbs and their meanings in this unit and are also aware of What is Tense. if not, please click these links and learn them first.

Before going ahead, we would like to remind you that Future Continuous Tense is also known as Future Progressive Tense. This tense tells about the action (e.g. eating, walking, dancing, sleeping, etc) which will happen continuously in the Future. e.g. you will browse the internet after reading this article. So this action is in Future Continuous Tense.

In Hindi and Urdu, Future Continuous Tense ends with raha hoga, rahi hogi, rahe hu ge. e.g. mein tenses parh raha hu ga, mein apna phone chala raha huga etc.

We use shall be/will be and the Present Participle Form or the -ing form of Verb (e.g running, walking, reading, eating, talking, etc).

Rule 1

In Future Continuous Tense, we use “shall be” with “I, and We” and “present participle form” (-ing form) of the verb. e.g.

Here are some more examples to help you understand this.

  1. I shall be playing Call of Duty after reading this article. (Ye article parhne k baad hum Call of Duty game khel rhe hu ge)
  2. We shall be eating fry momos in the evening. (Hum sham ko fry momos kha the hu ge)
  3. shall be watching Season 2 of Family Man. (Mein Family Man ka Season 2 dekh rha hu ga).
  4. We shall be creating a new group on WhatsApp. (Hum WhatsApp par naya group bana rhe hu ge)

Rule 2

We use “will be” with Name, He, She, It, We, You and They and Present Participle Form (-ing form) of the Verb. e.g.

  1. You will be eating Pizza (Ap Pizza kha rhe hu ge)
  2. They will be playing PUBG. (Wo PUBG Khel rhe hu Ge)
  3. You will be cooking rice. (Ap khana bana rahe hu ge)
  4. They will be asking questions. (Wo sawaal pooch rhe hu ge)
  5. He will be buying a mature bag. (Wo mature bag khareed rha ho ga)
  6. She will be making a Tiktok video. (Wo Tiktok video bana rhi ho gi)
  7. It will be raining cats and dogs. (bhut zor ki barish ho rhi ho gi)
  8. They will be sitting(We beth rhe hu ge)
  9. You will be crying(Ap ro rhe ho ge)
  10. He will be listening to songs on Coke Studio. (Wo Coke Studio par gaane sun rha ho ga)
  11. Dhinchak Pooja will be singing a rap. (Dhinchak Pooja rap ga rhi ho gi)

Rule 3

While forming questions in Future Continuous Tense, we bring shall and will before I/We/You/They/He/She/It/Name and after that comes be and then the rest of the sentence. e.g.

  1. Will Ranu Mondal be singing a song? (Kya Ranu Mondal gana ga rhi ho gi?
  2. Will he be downloading the movie? (Kya Wo movies download kr rha ho ga?)
  3. Will she be buying a new phone? (kya wo naya phone khareed rhi ho gi?)
  4. Will it be raining here? (Kya yaha barish ho rhi ho gi?)
  5. Will you be crying? ( Kya Ap ro rhe ho ge?)
  6. Will they be playing PUBG? (Kya wo PUBG Khel rhe hu ge?)
  7. Shall be watching Season 2 of Family Man? (Kya Mein Family Man ka Season 2 dekh rha hu ga?).
  8. Shall we be creating a new group on WhatsApp? (Kya hum WhatsApp par naya group bana rhe hu ge?)
