Summary

Howard Kelly sells goods from door to door

A poor boy who used to sell goods from door to door to pay his way through school, he didnโ€™t have enough money to buy some food and he was very hungry. He decided, he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large of milk.

The Kind woman gets old and sick

Years later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in a specialist to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for a consultation. When the doctor came to care for the patient, he felt that he was familiar with the woman. Immediately, he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. He requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

Dr. Howard pays back her kindness with kindness

Then, a nurse came to the woman. She feared to open it, she was sure that she had not enough money to pay the bill. She began to read the following words: โ€œPaid in full with one glass of milkโ€ (Signed Dr. Howard Kelly). She was very happy. She didnโ€™t think that someone who was helped by her a long time ago would still remember her. She believed that God would help humans in every moment.

Conclusion

The moral of the story is when someone does you a good deed, you must never forget it. One must look out for the opportunity to do a good deed for that person. If one does not get the opportunity then he must pass on the good deed to someone else. It is quite a strange fact of life, that a good deed done to another always brings some kind of reward to the person who has done the good deed. Hence you must always return good with good.
