Subject: Leave application for attending grandfather’s death ceremony

Sir/Mam,

With due respect, I would like to state that my grandfather died of prolonging illness two years before. Since then, death rituals are organised in our home town. This year as well, the ritual is scheduled for tomorrow. Hence I request you to grant me three-day leave from the school so that I may be able to attend the rituals and pray for my grandfather’s peace in the afterlife.
