Subject: Leave application due to death of grandfather

Sir/Mam,

With profound grief and sorrow, I want to state that my grandfather expired today. He has been suffering from sugar since last year. The whole family gathered at our home. Necessary rites and rituals are being organised for his eternal peace.

Hence, I request you grant me 3 days’ leave so that I can attend my grandfather’s last rituals.
