Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on the Dowry system. In India, the dowry system has been in place for a very long time. The dowry is the amount of money or property given to the boy’s family or themselves at the marriage ceremony. The practice of giving money to the groom before marriage so that he can properly care for his bride dates back to ancient times and was used to honor both sides of the family. Dowry still exists in society today, although its relevance is constantly evolving.
For some castes today, the dowry system is turning into a business. The marriage is frequently quickly dissolved as a result of demand not being met on the boy’s side. Dowry is growing increasingly significant for the groom’s side, particularly in nations like India.
Even after a girl has achieved all in life, she is unable to break free from the shackles of dowry. Parents would occasionally kill their daughters either just after delivery or while they are still within the mother in order to avoid paying the dowry. It is not the daughter’s fault that she is getting an unfair penalty; rather, it is the society’s problem.
Let’s all work to put a stop to this awful social custom and protect daughters and their promising futures. The key lesson here is that nothing should be imposed on daughters in the name of tradition, and parents should be free to cheerfully offer their daughters everything they may wish. Thank you.
