Google defines the term ‘zoo’ to be “an establishment which maintains a collection of wild animals, typically in a park or gardens, for study, conservation, or display to the public.”
The zoo is short for a zoological garden, also referred to alternatively as an animal park.
The whole concept of a zoo is one that is highly debated. Yes, it is argued that zoos take care of wild animals to tame them and that they also happen to be popular recreational haunts. However, it also cannot be denied that zoos treat animals as something that ought to be exhibited, not treated as fellow living things.
