Wikipedia defines the term to be as follows: “A tsunami is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami.”
A tsunami is a natural disaster that leads to a great loss of life and property. According to UNESCO, in the last decade alone, deadly tsunamis have occurred in Chile, Haiti, Indonesia, Japan, Peru, Samoa – American Samoa – Tonga, and Solomons. Of these, only Indonesia and Japan caused deaths on distant shores.
