There are 195 countries in the world today. Everyone has their say about their own country and one cannot deny that every country is unique and special in its ways. They also have their drawbacks as well. More than half of the countries are democratic in the world today.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a small country in Western Europe, is at the top of the list of the richest countries with Burundi being the world’s poorest country. New countries don’t pop up every day. The newest internationally recognized country in the world is the African country of South Sudan, which declared independence on July 9, 2011.
