Independence day is a day where a country celebrates their independence and regains their freedom. India celebrates their independence day every year on August 15. Mountbatten decided to advance the date to August 15, 1947. He justified it by saying that he did not want bloodshed or riots.
Mountbatten chose August 15 as the date of the Indian independence to also mark the second anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War 2. It is a very important day for the Indians as we keep in mind a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, “Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote to err and even to sin.”
