Wikipedia defines the term ‘Hindu Temple’ as follows: “A Hindu temple, or mandir or Koil or Kovil in Indian languages, is a house, seat and body of divinity for Hindus.”
Simply put, any Hindu Temple is an abode for the pantheon of Hindu Gods and thus becomes a place of worship for Hindu devotees.
Ancient Indian Kings and Royals dedicated huge amounts of their time and money to the building of temples across India to various deities. Today, because of their efforts, there exist around 2 million temples in India, making it a religious hub for Hindus.
