Children’s day is celebrated all over India on the 14th of November, which is the birth anniversary of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru every year to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children.
Since 1956, India has been celebrating Children’s Day on November 20 because Movember 20 is the universal children’s day of the UN. However, after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru, India started celebrating Children’s Day on the 14th of November in memory of him.
Jawarhalla Nehru loved and was very fond of children. He was also lovingly called Chacha Nehru. One of his famous quotes about children is “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.”
