Basant Panchami is also known as Vasant Panchami or Vasanta Panchami or Saraswati Puja. Vasant means “spring” and Panchami means “fifth”. It marks the end of winter and the coming of the spring. This is a festival celebrated by the Hindus in honour of the Hindu goddess Saraswati. It is celebrated in the Indian regions in various ways.
All working places along with institutions celebrate this day throughout India. In this festival, they wake up early, dress in yellow and eat and share yellow-coloured sweets and snacks and perform their puja. It is celebrated on 14 February every year. The Hindus take this occasion to its utmost seriousness. It has been recorded that this celebration began by the 12th century.
