Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam was India’s 11th president. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam is his full name. Abdul Kalam is India’s best president to date. He is most known as the “missile man” to every common Indian. He was born on October 15, 1931, in the temple town of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.
Jainulabdeen, his father, was a boat owner and the imam of the local mosque. Ashiamma, his mother, was a housewife. He was born into a poor family, yet he was an exceptionally bright child. He finished his secondary studies at Ramanathapuram’s Schwartz Higher Secondary School. Dr Kalam graduated from Saint Joseph College in Tiruchirappalli with a B.Sc. degree.
He graduated from Madras Technological Institute as an aviation engineer. In 1958, he began his work as a scientist with the DRDO after graduating from Madras College of Technology. He was involved in the design, development, and administration of an indigenous satellite rocket. After a while, the satellite ‘Rohini’ was successfully launched.
