A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘National Flag’.
Wikipedia defines a national flag to be “a flag that represents and symbolizes a given nation.” A national flag is thus a representation of the nationality of every nation.
To India, its national flag becomes all the more important given its history. It was initially made as a symbol of resistance against the oppression of the coloniser British. Through the years, it had gone through several transformations before attaining its present form.
Currently, the Indian National flag is a Tricolour flag. It consists of three horizontal stripes in the colours of Saffron, White, and Green. Saffron represents courage, White represents peace and unity and Green represents fertility. The White stripe also has a Blue Ashoka Chakra within it. It consists of 24 spikes representative of the 24 hours in a day. The Chakra as a whole stands for constant movement and progress.
