A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘Mother’s Day’.
Abraham Lincoln has said, “’All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” Indeed, mothers are angels. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to compare them to saints.
The word ‘mother’ has several definitions across a variety of dictionaries. Yet, those lines do not begin to encompass who a mother is or what she is to every one of us, especially as a child.
From going through the painful process of giving birth to us to nurturing us, taking care of all our needs without even our asking for it and teaching us all about the world, mothers are crucial and irreplaceable in one’s life.
In commemoration of the importance of mothers thus, ‘Mother’s Day’ is celebrated across nations, typically in the month of March or May. In India, it is observed on 14th of May every year.
