Good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be making a small speech on the topic “fish”.
A variety of fish lives in the water bodies across Earth. Studies point out that there are more than 32,000 species of fish living in the world. Fossils discovered reveal that fish have lived on the Earth for about 500 million years!
Fish is a major staple diet in many countries across the world. China is ranked first in the country which consumes the most amount of fish, followed by Myanmar, Vietnam, and Japan. China is a consumer of around 22 million metric tonnes of fish every year, which is more than double the amount of fish eaten by most countries!
Common varieties of fish eaten across the world include salmon, cod, herring, mackerel, sardines, and tuna.
Care should be taken in identifying which fish to eat and which not to. Some fish are poisonous, which makes than inedible. Examples include reef stonefish- a notorious predator, puffer, and red lionfish.
