Subject– Social media and its influence.
Dear Sameer,
Hello. How are you? I hope this email finds you healthy and happy. By God’s grace I am also well.
Your last email was very pleasant to read but I noticed that you talked a lot about social media and your various accounts. I must warn you that social media is very problematic if not indulged in with care and limitations. The world of social media is a mere facade. People only portray their success and smiles, it is more often than deception. By spending too much time on it, you feel incompetent.
You look at everyone living their best lives and begin comparing yourself with them and that leads to feeling like you do not have enough, and you will never have enough because someone out there will have something different, something more than you. The more time spent online, the more you miss out on the real world and the opportunities it has to offer you. You begin to procrastinate and end up missing important deadlines. Your performance will begin to falter.
More importantly, you will have this urge to post everything you do online and that is at times dangerous too. You might accidentally give away personal information to strangers or if your account is not private your pictures could be misused. Social media should be used with great care and you should make sure that you are using it for something productive or recreational not for flaunting your accomplishments.
I hope you found some wisdom in my words. Take care and write to me soon.
Yours lovingly,
Asha U
