Makar Sankranti or simply, Sankranti is celebrated when Sun (or Surya deity) moves into the Capricorn zodiac. It is celebrated every year on the 14th of January except in leap years when it is celebrated on the 15th. It is also the occasion when the famous Kumbh Mela takes place. In my city, this festival lasts for two days. We go to the temple, wear new clothes, and also visit the fair.
