Dear Vidhya,

I hope you and your family are in good health and are happy. Two days ago, I went to Karishma’s house as part of our science group project. I was surprised to see a joint family present. Karishma comes from a joint family. A joint family is something we Indians are familiar with. But since I am not from a joint family, I was quite excited to be there.

There were 10 members in Karishma’s house: she, her father, mother, brother, uncle, aunt, grandpa, grandma, and two cousins. They all seem to be happy living together. It is good to see them support each other. My mother had told me stories about how she had grown up with all her cousins, and those days were very nice.

Being in a joint family will teach us the value of sharing. A joint family brings the members of a family together all the time. But at the same time, there are disadvantages to a joint family as well.

Bye and take care

Your friend
