Dear Tara,
I hope you and your family are happy and in good health. Did you know that July 30 is observed as International Friendship Day? Observing a day as “friendship day” was the idea proposed in Paraguay in 1958 by an American businessman, Joyce Hall Day. The UN General Assembly declared it in 2011. The day is observed to promote friendship among humans, irrespective of their race, class, and social status.
This also helps to bridge the gap between countries. Friendly relations between the countries are needed for global development. As part of this day, the UN encourages all countries, governments, and other non-governmental organisations to hold activities that promote mutual understanding and friendly relations that benefit the whole of humanity.
In my school, the activity for students on this day is to hold reconciliation talks with friends or classmates with whom we have severed ties. I have not talked with a boy in my class due to an issue we had. I have plans to reconcile with him.
