Culture of India included many different cultures. There are many cultures because there are many Religion and communities in India.
People in a different part of India have different customs, food, clothes and festivals. Culture of India is old and rich. India is known for its culture in the whole world. There are many religions in India. They are- Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Islam. All these religions celebrate their festivals.
There are Hindu festivals like Diwali, Holi, Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Durga puja. Some festivals are called harvest festivals. They are Pongal, Onam, Lohri, Makar Sankranti. Muslim festival like Eid and Christian festival like Christmas is also celebrated in India.
In India Families are joint families, people live with their relatives in one house. Marriages in India are very respected. It is celebrated with rituals. In different places, the weddings are celebrated with different rituals. Some people wear red dresses and some wear white dresses on the wedding. While Hindus and Muslims celebrate the wedding with a band, others do it quietly.
India also has many types of foods. In some parts, people eat more spicy food while others eat raw food. Idli Sambhar, Dosai, Chhole Bhature, Makke ki roti, Kashmiri dum aloo are the name of some famous dishes. Indian culture is also rich in dance and music.
Every state has its own traditional dance. Bharatanatyam is the dance of Tamil Nadu, Kathak is the dance of Uttar Pradesh, Odissi is the dance of Odisha. Other types of dances are Bhangra, Bihu, Mahari.
There are famous music instruments of India like Sitar, Tabla, Flute, Shehnai. There are also many languages spoken in India. Different languages are spoken in different states.
Odia is spoken in Odisha, Bangla in West Bengal. Punjabi in Punjab and many more. All these tell that India has a great culture. It makes this country colourful and versatile.
