An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley is a suspense drama. It has been divided into three acts and the plot is set in the house of the Birling family. The story revolves around the suicide of a young working-class girl named Eva Smith and the involvement of the whole family in it.

The story of the play is set in early 20th century Britain. Hence the play throws light on the condition of working-class people and their exploitation by the rich class.
