Good morning to my teachers and friends present here. Today, I would like to talk about the topic of Agneepath. The Indian government finally unveiled the “Agnipath Yojana,” a new recruiting program, on June 14, 2022, after several days of anticipation. However, the Union Cabinet has already approved it on May 14, 2022. Mr. Rajnath Singh, India’s defense minister, announced the proposal of the Agneepath scheme for young people seeking to enlist in the Indian Armed Forces.
Candidates will be chosen under this program for duty in the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy for a total of four years, which includes six months of training. Candidates will be hired for positions below the rank of officer and assigned to the borders of Jammu and Kashmir.
The chosen applicants, or Agniveers, are promised a wealth of benefits by this scheme. Candidates will receive a 30,000 starting salary. The Agniveers will receive all allowances as per military regulations. After four years of service, a gift worth 11.71 lakh will also be given as “Seva Nidhi.”
Only roughly 25% of Agniveers will be permitted to continue working for an additional 15 years, with the others being sent home. After four years, Agniveers would reportedly be given preference for other civilian positions, according to the government. Under this system, no pension or bonus schemes will be offered. Youths’ expectations are not being met by the freshly introduced “Agneepath” program, and protests against it have spread throughout India’s states. Thank you.
