Good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the importance of English.
Britannica states that “The English language is an Indo-European language in the West Germanic language group. Modern English is widely considered to be the lingua franca of the world and is the standard language in a wide variety of fields, including computer coding, international business, and higher education.”
English, thus, is a universal language used everywhere. In a world where more than 7100 words are in existence, English serves as the common ground through which conversations had been made simpler. It, in fact, is the official language in 53 countries and is spoken as a first language by around 400 million people worldwide. English, subsequently, is also the most common second language in the world. It also serves in translating texts in regional languages to make them accessible across the world.
Why, I myself am giving this speech in English, which in itself shows its importance!
