1 Minute Speech on Rabindranath Tagore In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a small speech on the topic of Rabindranath Tagore.

Who doesn’t know Tagore, the great poet, musician and artist? Born as Gurudev in Kolkata, this polymath is the great figure who wrote India’s national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and Bangladesh’s ‘Amar Shonar Bangla’.

He is a man of many accomplishments. In 1913, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his poem Geetanjali. In 1921, Tagore founded the Shanti Niketan or the Vishwa Bharti University in Kolkata. Rabindra Sangeeth, a piece of popular Bengali music, was in fact influenced by him!

Gora, Raja and Rani, Binodini, and Nauka Dubi are some of his well-known novels. Kabuliwala, his short story is again one of his literary masterpieces.

Perhaps one of his most beautiful quotes would be “The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence.”

He died in 1941 in Kolkata.

Thank you.
