A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of networking.
Google defines the term networking to be “the linking of computers to allow them to operate interactively.”
Simply put, networking, in the literal sense, refers to ‘interconnected computing devices that can exchange data and share resources with each other.’ Networking can be done by means of computers on a network being linked through cables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light beams.
Such computer networking allows various benefits, such as sharing files and resources, sharing a single internet connection, and increasing storage capacity overall. It also allows room for better communication through a shared computer network. Time and again, computer networking has proven to be cost-efficient as well.
Broadly, networking can be categorized into 5 different types. They are Personal Area Network (PAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), and Campus Area Network (CAN).
