A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of malnutrition.
Google defines the term malnutrition to be “lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat.” Malnourishment thus is the state of being not properly nourished and suffering from malnutrition.
Studies point out that more than 1 million people are malnourished in India. Yemen is noted to be the most malnourished nation in the world as of 2022.
Broadly, malnourishment can be divided into 4 categories. They are wasting, stunting, underweight, and deficiencies in vitamins and minerals.
From this, it can be understood that malnourishment arises as a result of a poor diet. Lack of balanced meals, especially in children, can thus cause malnourishment which in turn results in several diseases including stunted growth, eye problems, diabetes, and heart disease.
