A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘capital punishment’.
Capital punishment is a term often confused with Corporal Punishment. However, these two terms are vastly different. While corporal punishment refers to the usage of physical force to cause some pain, capital punishment is, in layman’s terms, the death penalty.
Capital punishment is decreed legally for the highest of crimes, such as murder and rape. Different countries use different methods of capital punishment. Some of these include electrocution, tranquilization, beheading, stoning, shooting, and, most commonly, hanging.
In India, capital punishment is awarded only to “the rarest of cases” by way of hanging.
On a moral level, it is an issue that is still highly criticized and debated upon.
What is your take on this? Please do let me know.
