Subject– The school’s celebration of independence day.
Dear Aditi,
Hello. How are you feeling now? It’s very unfortunate you had to miss the independence day celebration. Fret not, I will fill you in on all the details, big and small.
The joyous day began at 8 am with a small prayer to thank the Lord for granting India its Independence and then a prayer of gratitude to all the martyrs. Our principal lit the lamp and gave an incredible speech. She narrated the story, of how India gained independence and the contribution of all the people.
She also spoke of India’s diversity and the unity of its beautiful citizens. Did you know that India’s tricolour national flag with stripes of red yellow and green was hoisted at Girish Park in Kolkata for the very first time? She shared many more interesting facts about Indian heritage. After her speech, there were several performances.
First, there was a dance tribute to the martyrs then there was a classical dance performance of Kathak. After the dances, a student played the sitar and another sang an Indian folk song. It was such a beautiful event truly. The day concluded with the flag-hoisting ceremony and everyone sang the national anthem. The band played and all the captions did a march past.
I know you missed this event but how about we participate in the upcoming annual day event? We can join the dance group. Let me know so I will register us both. Get well soon and take care.
Much love,
Raveena U
