Dear friend,
I hope this letter finds you and your family in the best of health. I am also doing well on this side. I am going to tell you about the folk songs of Bangladesh in this letter.
I was given the assignment to write about the folk songs of any country in the world. I chose Bangladesh because I have an interest in the culture of that country. There have been several excellent musicians from Bangladesh. They have been singing songs about history as well as the people of that place. Some important folk singers of Bangladesh are- Lalon Fakir, Abbas Uddin, Ramesh Shil, Radhraman Dutta, and many more. Several forms of folk music are famous in Bangladesh; some of them are- Bhandari, which is from the Southern region; Ghazal; Jari, which is a musical battle between two groups; and Sari, which is a workman or boatman song. These are only some examples of folk music types. It is a vast and melodious subject to study.
