Dear Lekshmi,
I hope you and your family are in good health and are happy. I am writing this letter from Ahmedabad. I had to travel here to take part in a quiz competition. There, I take part in the kite festival, which is very popular here. The annual kite festival falls on the 14th of January every year. This festival marks the arrival of spring.
This is part of the Markar Sankrati Festival. People gather together in front of the morning sun to fly kites. There are also kite-flying competitions. People come with their families and friends, and it is a fun time for everyone. A sweet made of sesame seeds and jaggery is made and served to all as part of this festival.
Other than in Ahmedabad, this festival is also popular in Rajasthan and Mumbai. I had the opportunity to fly kites for the first time with some of my friends, who all came to attend the quiz competition.
