Dear Isha,

I hope you and your loved ones are happy and doing well. Did your social science teacher read the chapter on natural disasters? At my school, my teacher took the chapter, and I got to know about Cyclone Aila, which affected the regions of India and Bangladesh in 2009. This cyclone formed on the shores of the Bay of Bengal on May 23 and started to get stronger. After Cyclone Sidr in 2007, this was the second-worst natural disaster to hit Bangladesh. It is estimated that at least 140 people were killed in India by this cyclone. The cyclone caused heavy rains, leading to floods that left many homeless. West Bengal was the worst affected, along with Odisha and Meghalaya. The situation in Bangladesh was severe. Many were killed and left homeless. The cyclone caused a big economic loss as well. The timely steps taken by the governments helped reduce the loss to an extent. The cyclone caused environmental damage as well.

Bye

Your friend
