Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends. A wonderful morning to all of you. As we all have gathered today on a special occasion, I would like to say a few words on International Women’s day.

Every year on 8th March International women’s day is celebrated across the world. This is celebrated to appreciate the achievements of women and pay respect.

The first international women’s day was recognized in 1911 in some of the European countries such as Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. More than one million men and women took out a rally to campaign for women’s right to work, education, vote, equality, and discrimination.

It was by 1975 during International Women’s Year, International women’s day was officially recognized by the united nations and thereafter, it continued to gain international importance. In some countries like China, Afganistan, Russia, etc, Internation women’s day is a national holiday.

This day is celebrated by event-based on women’s theme. Even schools, colleges and offices also celebrate this day. The famous women personalities from different sectors like education, politics, Bollywood are invited to events, schools, and colleges to give speeches and to share their experiences.

In some offices and schools, women also receive gifts on this special day making it memorable for them. Students prepare speeches and presentations to present on this day. This day’s importance is widely recognized as it is also an occasion to inspire commitment to the future challenges that women may face in making further progress.

In the past, women have been a victim of violence and deprived of their rights across the globe. They have suffered a lot and were seen as second citizens.

This day marks the women’s empowerment and her victory in achieving equality and growth in her life. This day also recognizes the changes made over the years in every society for the development of women. It is also to remember the contribution of various feminists which led to the development of women.

Thank you.
