Short Speech on Junk Food in English for Students and Children

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends.

A warm wish to all of you.

Today I am going to share my views on the thing we like eating but we should avoid- ‘junk food’.

The Junk food is named as ‘Junk’ because of its harmful effects on our body. Such food items have high calories, high sodium, and high sugar content. And they do not have a single benefit.

It is so harmful still people consume junk food. It is because of the rising popularity of junk food. There are many reasons for it. It is easy to prepare. Since there are no nutrients in it. It can be prepared quickly and we do not need to wait longer for food to be prepared.

Another reason is that it is reasonable. It comes with so many offers. This is the reason why people are tempted to buy it. It is also easily accessible. There are so many applications these days. All you need to do is just a click and your food will be available to you at your doorsteps.

We have so many options too. There are so many restaurants offering junk food that it is not easy to choose from which one to buy. But the attractive deals help and also promotes to buy more. Just like buy one get one free deal.

Just like endless options to purchase junk food, there are endless ill-effects off it. It only satisfies the taste buds and increases the energy levels instantly. It affects our mood in a negative way.

Regular consumption of junk food can lead to a drop in the concentration levels of a person. The chronic disease of obesity is also the result of the regular consumption of junk food. It also increases blood sugar levels and blood pressure. This way it damages the heart slowly.

Junk food does not contain much fibre and this affects our digestive system. It leads to constipation slowly. It also affects our liver and is responsible for problems like diabetes.

In short, we need to understand the problems associated with junk food. We should replace it with healthy food. Replacing it with home-cooked food is the best option to adopt if we want to save ourselves from its ill-effects.

Thank you.
