Republic Day Essay in English

Republic Day is celebrated on 26th of January with great pomp and show in Delhi. Lakhs of people gather together at the India Gate. Buildings and houses are decorated with flowers and flags.

The President of India arrives at the saluting base with his mounting bodyguards. He takes the seat in a gilded chair under a beautiful umbrella.

The three chiefs of the defence staff the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are all present to do him honour. He is presented with a 31 gun salute. The army band plays the National Anthem. Aircraft of the Indian Air Force show feats of flying in the air. They shower flowers over the tricolour flag. The regiment of soldiers march past.

Students of different schools and colleges also form of a procession and march in their colourful uniforms. Lakhs of people stand on both sides of the route. They are full of joy and merriment.

The procession wends its way to Connaught Place as also through other important streets. People take these seeds near windows and in the balcony of shops and houses to have a clear glimpse of the procession.

The procession proceeds onwards till it reaches the vast grounds just near the central government offices. The regiment of soldiers enters the Red Fort while the remaining precession moves on and passes through Chandni Chowk. At the Town Hall, the people disperse and go home.

At night the people illuminate their houses and shops. Rashtrapati Bhavan is specially decorated and illuminated. Thousands of people flock to see it.

The Town Hall, the Parliament House and the secretariat and many big offices are worth seeing. This day not only reminds us of the sacrifices of our great leaders and patriots but also urges Ace to uplift the country to great heights.
