A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘Words’.
Google defines the term ‘word’ to be “a single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing, used with others (or sometimes alone) to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on either side when written or printed.”
Wikipedia, meanwhile, states as follows: “A word is a basic element of language that carries an objective or practical meaning, can be used on its own, and is uninterruptible.”
These are what defines a word linguistically speaking. In reality, they hold so much more power than that!
Words strung together, be it in any language, in the form of speeches or written format, wield the power to even make or break nations! Words can move people and sway opinions in the snap of fingers, having the ability to be both beautiful and lethal.
That is why, as they once rightly put, “Pen is mightier than the sword”!
