A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of the Olympics.
Wikipedia defines the term ‘Olympics’ to be “The Summer Olympic Games, also known as the Games of the Olympiad, and often referred to as the Summer Olympics, is a major international multi-sport event normally held once every four years.”
Inaugurated in 1896 in the city of Athens, Greece, it, as Google aptly describes, is “relating to ancient Olympia or the Olympic Games.”
The Olympics are highly competitive in nature. Consisting of 33 sports and 339 medal events, the recent edition of the Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan in 2021 is a far cry from the 9 sports and 43 medal events initially held in Greece.
Every year, unsurprisingly, the United States bags the maximum number of medals. Thus far, it has a total of 2633 medals, with it already having amassed 1061 gold medals!
India, on the other hand, ranks 48th in this regard.
