Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, a wonderful morning to all of you. Today on this special occasion, I would like to speak some words on the topic- Female Foeticide.
Female foeticide is a huge problem in India. The desire for a male child leads people, especially in underdeveloped rural areas, to kill the girl child while it is still in the mother’s womb. The societal perception that girls are weak and a burden to the family is the chief cause of this evil.
Girls are capable of everything, and yet every opportunity is consistently taken away from them throughout their lives due to prejudices. In this case, even their very lives are cut off before it can even begin.
No society can progress without its women progressing, and therefore we must actively strive to save the girl child. We must not only educate people to stop female foeticide, but also make sure that female children get equal opportunities as their male counterparts.
To conclude, we must do our best to prevent female foeticide! Thank you for listening to me so attentively.
