A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic of empowerment.
What is empowerment? Google defines empowerment to be “authority or power given to someone to do something.” More importantly, it also states that empowerment is “the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.”
Thus, empowerment is a term that is associated with people who are marginalized and discriminated against. Women especially and communities that are downtrodden, such as the Black Community gaining power and autonomy is thus referred to as empowerment or emancipation.
It is often said that for one to be empowered, one must follow its four elements: autonomy, competence, community, and fulfillment. All four of these executed in harmony result in empowerment thus.
To be empowered is very important in everyone’s life as we all deserve to be treated well and not oppressed. Let’s all be empowered!
